Find answers to the most commonly asked questions about NutriJourney.

Account and Billing

Is NutriJourney free?

Yes, NutriJourney offers a free tier with core food tracking, body composition logging, and device integrations. Paid tiers start at $4.99/month (JUNA Lite) for AI coaching, with JUNA Pro ($19.99/mo) for full metabolic intelligence and JUNA Coach ($49.99/mo) for AI training programming.

Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay?

Yes. Both NutriJourney subscriptions and the Polar 360 band are eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement when used to manage a qualifying health condition such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, or sleep disorders.

How it works:

  1. Select "Pay with HSA/FSA" at checkout
  2. Complete a brief health questionnaire (2-3 minutes)
  3. A licensed healthcare provider reviews your responses
  4. If approved, a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is issued
  5. Pay with your regular card, then submit your receipt and LMN to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement

Most customers save approximately 30% by using pre-tax health dollars. Eligibility depends on your specific health condition and your plan administrator's policies.

Common qualifying conditions:

  • Obesity or weight management
  • Type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Sleep disorders
  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Nutritional deficiencies

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancel your subscription through your account settings at nutrijourney.fit/account. Your features remain active until the end of your current billing period. Cancel anytime — no long-term contracts.

Yes, all of your data is exportable. Go to More > Settings > Data Export to download your food logs, body composition history, and JUNA conversation history in standard formats.

Food Tracking

How accurate is the nutrition data?

NutriJourney sources nutrition data from two authoritative databases: USDA FoodData Central (maintained by the United States Department of Agriculture) and Open Food Facts (a community-maintained database of packaged food products). Combined, these cover over 2 million food items with lab-verified nutrient profiles.

What are the 110+ nutrients?

The full nutrient profile includes macronutrients (calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, sugar), all 20 amino acids, 13 vitamins, 15+ minerals, fatty acid subtypes (omega-3, omega-6, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, saturated), carotenoids (beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin), phytosterols, and calculated food scores (glycemic index, glycemic load, PRAL, fullness factor, nutrient density, omega ratio).

How does camera scanning work?

Camera scanning uses AI-powered food recognition. Point your phone at a meal or individual food item, tap the shutter, and the AI identifies the food, estimates the portion size, and pulls the full nutrient profile. You can review and adjust the detection before logging.

Body Composition

Do I need an InBody device?

No. NutriJourney works with manual weight logging, and the trust score system and noise filtering apply to all measurement types. However, an InBody device significantly enhances the experience by providing body fat percentage, muscle mass, visceral fat, and segmental analysis that a scale alone cannot measure.

What are trust scores?

Trust scores are quality ratings for your measurements based on the conditions under which they were taken. Factors include time of day, hydration status, recent meals, and measurement consistency. Morning fasted weigh-ins score highest. Trust scores ensure that your trend calculations are based on the most reliable data points.

Why does my weight fluctuate so much?

Daily weight fluctuations of 2-5 pounds are completely normal. The trigger correlation engine (available after 14+ days of data) explains exactly why -- carbohydrate intake causes glycogen and water storage, sodium drives water retention, intense workouts cause inflammation-related fluid retention, and poor sleep affects cortisol and water balance. These are not fat changes.

JUNA AI

Is JUNA a real person?

No, JUNA is an AI coaching assistant powered by Claude. JUNA is available 24/7 and has access to your metabolic data, food logs, and body composition trends to provide personalized coaching.

Are my conversations with JUNA private?

Yes. JUNA conversations are not used to train AI models. Your data stays within your NutriJourney account. You can delete any conversation at any time from the JUNA chat screen.

What can I ask JUNA?

Anything related to nutrition, fitness, or wellness. Common topics include meal planning, nutrient gap analysis, interpreting weight trends, recipe suggestions, restaurant ordering guidance, workout nutrition timing, sleep and recovery, and general health questions. JUNA grounds all responses in your actual data when relevant.

Gym and Restaurants

Scan the QR code displayed at any participating NutriJourney partner gym. This links the gym to your account, enabling features like equipment browsing and optional trainer data sharing.

Can my trainer see my data?

Only what you explicitly share. When you link a gym, you choose which data categories your trainer can access -- nutrition logs, body composition, or both. You can revoke access at any time in your gym settings.

Privacy

What data do you collect?

NutriJourney collects the data you provide (food logs, body measurements, profile information) and on-device health data you explicitly grant access to (steps, heart rate, sleep via HealthKit or Health Connect). See our Privacy Policy for complete details.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Go to More > Settings > Account > Delete Account. Account deletion removes all of your data permanently within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.
