Meet JUNA: Your AI Coach That Actually Knows You

What JUNA Is

JUNA is your personal AI nutrition and fitness coach, powered by Claude. But calling her a "chatbot" undersells what she does. JUNA has access to your complete metabolic profile — your calibrated TDEE, your trigger correlations, your body composition history, your food logs, your sleep data, and your training schedule.

When you ask JUNA a question, she doesn't pull from a generic FAQ database. She constructs her response using your actual data. "Should I eat more carbs today?" isn't answered with a textbook recommendation. It's answered with: "Based on your training schedule, you have a heavy leg session tomorrow. Your trigger correlation data shows that higher carb intake the night before leg days correlates with better reported energy levels. I'd suggest adding 30-40g of carbs at dinner tonight, which would bring you to about 55% of your calibrated TDEE from carbohydrates."

JUNA follows an "explain before showing" protocol. Before presenting any numbers or recommendations, she explains the reasoning. This isn't just a UX choice — it's a fundamental design principle. Black-box recommendations that say "eat 2,200 calories" without explaining why breed dependence on the app rather than understanding of your own body.

How Context Enrichment Works

Every time you open a conversation with JUNA, the system builds a context package from your recent data. This includes your current calibrated TDEE and how it's trended over the past month, your macro adherence patterns for the past week, your most recent body composition measurements with trust scores, active trigger correlations and their current status, and your engagement metrics — how consistently you've been logging and what features you use most.

This context enrichment means JUNA's responses are always grounded in your current situation. She knows if you've been logging consistently or if you've had a gap. She knows if your weight trend has been noisy lately or stable. She knows if your TDEE just got a significant calibration nudge.

The time-of-day context adds another layer. Morning conversations get different suggestions than evening ones. JUNA knows that asking about meal planning at 7 AM is different from asking at 9 PM. Quick action chips — pre-built conversation starters — change dynamically based on the time, your recent activity, and your current goals.

Quick Action Chips

JUNA's quick action chips are context-aware conversation starters that appear at the top of the chat interface. Instead of staring at a blank text field wondering what to ask, you see relevant prompts based on your current situation.

In the morning, you might see: "Plan my meals for today", "Review yesterday's nutrition", or "How did I sleep?" After a workout, you might see: "Log my post-workout meal", "How many calories did I burn?", or "What should I eat for recovery?" In the evening: "Am I on track for my daily targets?", "Suggest a dinner that fits my remaining macros", or "Review my weekly progress."

The chip selection algorithm considers thirteen different icon categories and surfaces the most relevant three to five options. They're designed to reduce friction — one tap starts a rich, contextual conversation rather than requiring you to formulate the perfect question.

Behind each chip is a carefully crafted prompt template that includes the relevant context data. Tapping "Review my weekly progress" doesn't just ask JUNA to talk about progress generically — it packages your last seven days of intake data, weight measurements, training logs, and TDEE calibration results into the prompt so JUNA can give you a genuinely useful weekly review.

Privacy: Your Conversations Are Yours

We take the privacy of your JUNA conversations seriously. Your chat history is stored in your personal account and is never used to train AI models. The metabolic data that enriches JUNA's context is processed at query time and is not stored separately from your existing data.

JUNA runs on Claude by Anthropic, which means your conversations benefit from Anthropic's commitment to AI safety and responsible development. We chose Claude specifically because of its ability to engage in nuanced, evidence-based health discussions while maintaining appropriate boundaries — JUNA will always recommend consulting a healthcare professional for medical concerns.

Your JUNA conversation history is included in your data export if you ever want to leave NutriJourney. We believe your health data — including your AI coaching conversations — belongs to you. No lock-in, no data hostage situations.

The memory graph system allows JUNA to build long-term context about your preferences, goals, and patterns without requiring you to repeat yourself. But this memory is always visible to you, editable by you, and deletable by you. Transparency isn't optional when an AI system is making recommendations about your health.
